Conference XVII Day of Urbanist 13.02.2025 "How to Save the Reform"

The reform of the planning system has become an undeniable fact, bringing with it both hopes and concerns. As urban planners, we quickly recognize the emerging risks tied to the reform, as these are part of our everyday work. We want to share and discuss these issues, both within our community and with decision-makers in government. Our goal is not to focus on complaints but to suggest concrete solutions, which form the theme of the XVII Day of the Urbanist – "How to Save the Reform."

The absence of a question mark is intentional – we aim to discuss and develop a positive corrective package that will enable the realisation of the reform's most important goals while avoiding its biggest risks. We will build on previous observations and the latest experiences regarding the implementation of the reform, from both the perspective of large cities and typical municipalities. We will tackle various practical challenges related to creating the general plan, paying particular attention to methods and tools for presenting it to local authorities and communities. However, what remains always most valuable at the Day of the Urbanist is the opportunity for many discussions in a collegial and friendly atmosphere. In this critical period of reform implementation, the integration and collective voice of our community of practitioners and friends of urban planning are more important than ever...

The XVII Day of the Urbanist will take place on February 13, 2025, in Hall 1D at the MTP Poznań Expo. The event is traditionally organized by the Polish Urban Planning Association – Poznań Branch and Grupa MTP, with this year’s addition of the City Urban Planning Workshop in Poznań. How to Save the Reform

• Session I – Implementing the planning reform – three perspectives (presentations from the Ministry of Development and Technology, Wielkopolska Voivodeship, and the Urban Planning Workshop in Poznań)
• Announcement of TUP competitions results: "Best Public Space Development in Wielkopolska" and "My Wielkopolska" (best diploma theses)
• Session II – Practical challenges of the general plan (presentations by urban planners from the Poznań TUP branch)
• Session III – How to make the general plan available? How to conduct consultations? (discussion with urban planners, officials, and geoinformatics companies presenting practical tools)
• Conference summary
