Architectural sketches

We are launching another edition of the architectural design competition organized as part of the BUDMA 2026 International Construction and Architecture Fair!

We invite you to participate in the next edition of the Architectural Sketches Competition, organized as part of the Budma Fair. This year's edition, inspired by the main theme of the D&A 2026 Forum, focuses on a fundamental question: What is beauty and aesthetics in architecture and urban planning, and how do they translate from the original idea into a real functioning space?

We are looking for Architectural Visions captured in a hand-drawn sketch that interpret the title of the competition in an original way and prove that beauty has value and impact. The works should show how high aesthetic values shape the environment and influence the daily lives of users – from the first “Idea” to the finished “Space.”

The aim of the COMPETITION is to showcase the technical skills of architecture students at universities and secondary school students using traditional techniques. The theme of this year's Architectural Sketches competition is “BEAUTY IN ARCHITECTURE. FROM IDEA TO SPACE.”

The ORGANIZER and PARTNERS expect COMPETITION participants to spontaneously and intuitively record their own emotions in the form of an original, artistic expression that is formally refined, precise, studied, and uses the entire set of means of expression appropriate to drawing.

This year's slogan should be understood as broadly as possible. Creative, non-obvious works should illustrate how differently these words can be understood. It is important in the COMPETITION to show how rich the language is.

What should you do?
An original architectural work created using traditional techniques (pencil, rapidograph, ink, charcoal, pastels, crayons, etc.).
Format: A4, A3, or 50×70 cm.
The drawing should present the influence of materials on the aesthetics and character of architecture, in the spirit of this year's slogan.

How to submit your work?
The work in a hardcover binding, together with the application form, should be:

📍 submitted in person at the MTP headquarters (ul. Głogowska 10, Poznań)
or
📮 sent by post with the note “Architectural Sketches Competition”

Submission deadline:
December 4, 2025 (from 9:00 a.m.) – January 13, 2026 (until 4:00 p.m.)
Participation in the competition is free of charge.

Attractive prizes await the finalists of the competition:

🏆 1st place – PLN 2,000
🥈 2nd place – PLN 1,500
🥉 3rd place – PLN 1,000

Additionally, we will award:
✨ Audience Award (selected by online voting)
📜 Diplomas for 10 authors of nominated works

The best sketches will be presented at an exhibition during the BUDMA 2026 trade fair.

Schedule

January 13, 2026 – deadline for submitting entries
January 23, 2026 – announcement of 10 nominees
January 26–31, 2026 – online public voting
February 3–6, 2026 – award ceremony during the Design and Architecture Forum at BUDMA 2026
